[edit] List or category?

As of yet, the only item in this category is... the Minor Mercenary Unit list. Which, ihmo, goes to show that we don't need this category. To explain, I created the Minor Mercenary Unit article and its list to comprehensively cover all merc units on which we have little to no information beyond the name; the preferred modus operandi is to create a proper article for each and every unit. As such, the article was just a collection list and my hope is that the units mentioned there are mostly taken out of that article to get their own article.

Now if a merc unit has its own article, then it falls into the category of Mercenary Commands. And that should be enough. I strongly oppose the idea to differentiate between minor and not-minor (major? normal?) merc units; that differentiation would be both pointless (as in having no impact or meaning whatsoever) and highly arbitrary.

To summarize, I suggest to scrap this category, use the Minor Merc Units article as a stepping stone, and lump all merc units together in a singular Category:Mercenary Commands otherwise. Frabby 23:30, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Support: I am a generalist. I'd prefer to not use subjective terms when the natural inclination for a Reader is to seek out a specific answer. I'm all for specifications, with individualized lists (Cat:Mercenary Commands with Kuritan Origins, Cat:Swahili-speaking Noble Children), because that is something that is objective (though maybe not relevant to my interests), but would prefer to avoid -as much as possible- anything where it leads to a debate as to whether or not the adjective applies to the objects of interest. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 23:58, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
