However Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey lead by Duke Fontaine Marik would wage war repulse Marian forces from newly gained worlds.  However, the new Free Worlds League government would prevent the renegade Duke from completing ejecting Hegemony forces, isolating the remaining forces on worlds Gibraltar, Atzenburgg, and Lepaterique area nicknamed "Gibraltar Island".
