Description[edit]
Produced by Hilltopper Engineering (a spin off of the mercenary command Holt's Hilltoppers[2]) for the Fronc Reaches' Colonial Marshals the TinStar came as a shock both to the Fronc Reaches' neighbors and the local pirate groups when it was introduced in 3086. The initial suit contained a mixture of Clan and Inner Sphere technology that, while being powerful, was regarded as undesirable by the Marshals due to its reliance on outside suppliers. Hilltopper Engineering would accommodate the Marshals request for a more production friendly variant which would lead to the first mass production line outside of vehicles for the Fronc Reaches at the time.[2] Factories would be built on Fronc, Independence, McEvans' Sacrifice, and Rockwellawan[3].
Variants[edit]
- Standard
- The second production of the TinStar currently in use with the Colonial Marshals' TinStar Brigade. It replaces the Clan standard armor with Inner Sphere Standard armor and swaps the Magshot Gauss Rifle with a "David" Light Gauss Rifle. BV (2.0) = 52[3]
- Original
- The first produced version of the TinStar mounting a Magshot Gauss Rifle, a Support PPC, and an Anti-Personnel Weapon Mount. While providing a fearsome mix of technology, it was eventually rejected for use by the Colonial Marshalls due to its over reliance on outside supply with the Magshot reliant on Davion sources. More importantly the armor itself was imported from Clan Diamond Shark/Clan Sea Fox who demanded a trading enclave in return for supplying the armor, something the Colonial Marshals flatly denied. While not in use by the Colonial Marshals the suits are still in limited production and are utilized for high-security bodyguard teams and in the Holt's Hilltoppers Field Service Battalion.[2] BV (2.0) = 74 [3]
