Description
The Infiltrator had long served the AFFC (as well as DMI and MIIO) as a stealth suit that was a capable scout and could easily penetrate enemy lines. It was, however, one of the first generation of battle armor and no longer served the needs of the Federated Commonwealth's intelligence agencies sufficiently. Despite that, it took some time for the Commonwealth to respond as they had more units to equip with battle armor than any other nation.
When they did finally get around to upgrading their stealth suit, the result was named the Infiltrator Mk. II, though many troopers nicknamed it "Puma." The design has a land speed no faster than that of foot infantry, but it can jump up to ninety meters at a shot. It carries enough armor to stop a blast from three Short Range Missiles and keep fighting. It is well served in its role as an infiltrator by its personal-sized ECM Suite and a parafoil that aids in HALO drops.
Armament
The main gun of the Infiltrator Mk. II is a powerful Magshot Gauss Rifle. Rather than use a modular weapon mount, designers decided to give the suit a massive weapon for a medium-size battle armor. The Magshot has a long range for such a small gun, aiding a Puma trooper in his or her potential role as a sniper. The Mk. II also has an anti-personnel weapon mount to take care of conventional infantry.
Variants
- Sensor - The sensor variant removes the Magshot to make way for a more dedicated scout. It mounts improved sensors for this role. Offensively, the variant mounts an additional anti-personnel weapon mount and a heavier machine gun, making it devastating to unarmored infantry. BV (1.0) = 29, BV (2.0) = 35[2]
- Infiltrator CORAL INTENT - Originally a experimental test-bed for Mimetic Armor, the CORAL INTENT prototypes were shelved until the Federated Suns received several Battle Armor C3 Systems from the Draconis Combine. As the C3 system couldn't function with the standard Infiltrator Mk. II's ECM Suite, the CORAL INTENT prototypes received the system. To provide some ranged attack capability, Federated-Barrett created the "Thunderstick", a clone of the David Light Gauss Rifle. The role of the CORAL INTENT prototypes is to sneak up close to enemy forces and provide targeting data to friendly units. BV (2.0) = 36[3]
- Magnetic - This Jihad variant replaced the parafoil and Anti-Personnel Weapon Mount, to make place for Magnetic Clamps.[4] BV (2.0)= ????[citation needed]
