Description
The Devil was first observed among Clan Snow Raven forces, a derivative of Howler (Baboon) second line BattleMech. Though it weighs fifty percent more than its progenitor, its focus on high speed and accurate fire make it a popular design. Its armament is at least partially enabled by the use of an Endo Steel structure and five tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor. It was a popular sniper for most of the Clans' Golden Century, but eventually was replaced by more flexible OmniMechs. After the Ravens merged with the Outworlds Alliance, they put the design back into production. The higher weight allows the Devil to carry nearly twice the armor of its forbear design.[1]
Weapons and Equipment
The Devil is a dedicated fast sniper. The 300 rated XL Engine allows it to cruise at over 100km/h, while running at 150km/h. The single ER PPC is tied into an advanced Targeting Computer allowing skilled pilots to dash in, hit a target, then get out again before the enemy can respond. Five tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor provide protection.
Variants
No variants are known to exist, but the Howler (Baboon) is a related design with additional options.
