Description[edit]
The Huron Warrior was originally planned to be a fire support BattleMech, but as the design was moving from concept to production the rediscovery of Star League technology and reports that were coming back from the Clan front prompted the designers to dramatically change the 'Mech's payload. The design was modified to make the Huron Warrior capable of attacking an enemy with a devastating long range direct fire arsenal. The 'Mech's long range punch, combined with its 10 tons of armor protection and average mobility make the Huron Warrior an effective weapon.
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The primary weapon that the Huron Warrior carries is a Grizzard 210 Gauss rifle that is capable of stripping off a ton of armor with each shot at extremely long ranges. This is backed up by a Martell ER large laser that provides good supplemental firepower at long ranges. Finally, it is armed with a Martell medium pulse laser, which gives the Huron Warrior the ability to protect itself at short ranges.
Variants[edit]
- HUR-WO-R4M
- The 3056 R4M variant of the Huron Warrior is a simple modification that removes the medium pulse laser in favor of a standard medium laser. The saved weight is used to add an additional ton of armor to the 'Mech.[1] BV (1.0) = 1,180[3], BV (2.0) = 1,556[5]
- HUR-WO-R4N
- The R4N is a 3063 modification that looks to the original design of the Huron Warrior and reverts the 'Mech back to its original fire support role. This is done by stripping the 'Mechs weapons and ammunition payload and replacing them with a pair of LRM-15 launchers and four medium lasers, with CASE for the ammo bin. The 'Mech is also armored with new stealth armor and carries a Guardian ECM suite. The double heat sinks offset the stealth armor's operation.[1] This combination of LRM-15s and stealth armor makes the R4N an incredibly powerful fire support 'Mech. BV (1.0) = 1,112, BV (2.0) = 1,553[6]
- HUR-WO-R4O
- A field modification of the R4L model, the 3065 R4O model of the Huron Warrior carries double heat sinks, enabling it to drop one heat sink and carry an additional ton of ammunition for the Gauss rifle.[1] BV (1.0) = 1,417, BV (2.0) = 1,585[7]
- HUR-WO-R5L
- This upgrade of the R40 model drops both the ER large laser and medium pulse laser, one ton of ammo, and an actuator to add an XL gyro, stealth armor, Guardian ECM suite and a PPC with PPC capacitor.[8]
Custom Variants[edit]
- HUR-WO-RX4
- The Huron Warrior RX4 carries a Silver Bullet Gauss rifle and a large X-Pulse laser. Protected by 10 tons of reactive armor, it is also equipped with a supercharger that allows it to reach sprint speeds of 100 km/h. The 'Mech was originally refitted for Republic Legate Dean Singer, but was stolen by a minor criminal.[9] BV (2.0) = 1,728[10]
Design Quirks[edit]
The Huron Warrior has the following Design Quirk:[11]
Notable Pilots[edit]
The HUR-WO-RX4 Huron Warrior variant is subject to the following Design Quirks:[9]
Notes[edit]
- Author Blaine Lee Pardoe stated in a blog entry that, according to his memory which he admitted could be wrong, the Huron Warrior was among the BattleMechs which he designed and for which he wrote the original background as initially published in TRO:3055. He added that he named the Huron Warrior for the old Eastern Michigan University mascot.
- In German products, the unit's proper name was altered to Hurone, which translates to Huron. The model code was accordingly changed to HUR-O4L.
