Chaeronea aerospace fighter in the interceptor unit role

Interceptor is a combat role performed by certain models of fighters, both aerospace and conventional, with a primary mission of forcing an aerial engagement with the opposition as distant as possible from friendly assets.[1][2]

Description[edit]

Interceptors are light and fast fighters intended to engage aerial enemies prior to their getting within striking range of their targets. The disruption of the enemy's flight into the target, through early attrition of their attacking platforms, would allow slower and heavier allied craft (such as dogfighters) to arrive with their superior firepower, to overcome and defeat the enemy.[1][2]

Game Description: Alpha Strike[edit]

In Alpha Strike, a unit is identified as an Interceptor when it meets the following standards[1]:
Speed: Fast
Range: Medium
Special: no requirements
