Description[edit]
An example of a typical large unpressurized yard is one of numerous shipyards providing construction and repair facilities for black water vessels, these yards are most often found in large groups of related stations: factories, living habitats for workers, and cargo stations.[1]
Fewer than 100 shipyards provide construction and repair facilities for black water vessels. The largest of the unpressurized yards provide services for massive WarShips, as such large pressurized yards are prohibitively expensive. More common and less costly than pressurized yards, unpressurized yards often resemble skeletal frames. While this means their size is virtually unlimited (although few in the Inner Sphere can service more than 500,000 tons), the work crews are forced to wear spacesuits at all times.[1]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
Yards are mostly unarmed and only thinly armored, relying on nearby defensive structures or the unwritten prohibition of destroying lostech.
Cargo[edit]
The Cargo Bays are used for processing and storage. Single occupancy accommodations are often set aside for passengers, for any oversight or temporary use.[1]
- Bay 1: Small Craft (20), 4 doors
- Bay 2: Cargo (4,221 tons), 2 doors
- Bay 3: Unpressurized Repair Facility (600,000-ton capacity), 1 door
Related Stations[edit]
- Small Unpressurized Yard - there is little difference between the unpressurized yards besides the size of the vessel they can enclose in their spacedock and the corresponding size of their cargo capacity.
- Large Pressurized Yard - pressurized yards are more expensive to maintain, though they are required for delicate work that bulky spacesuits would make impractical.
