Kurita Combine Munitions Corporation was a Draconis Combine aerospace manufacturer.[2]

Overview

After the War of 3039, Kurita Combine Munitions Corporation (also known as Kurita CMC or KCMC) used state funding from the Draconis Combine to repair and reopen the Izumi JumpShips shipyard in the Altair system,[3][4] which had been destroyed during the First Succession War.[5] KCMC then began manufacturing a new JumpShip class there: the Chimeisho.[3][4]

Because it produced what many viewed as a Free Worlds League fighter, KCMC generally had a difficult time obtaining components for its product. This changed in the 3050s, however, when the companies supplying Mangon Aeronautics, former producer of the now-defunct Sholagar light fighter, suddenly found themselves seeking new markets for their products.[6]

Kurita Combine Munitions Corporation was a division of Luthien Armor Works by 3067.[2] When the Jihad broke out that year, KCMC's Altair facilities would be captured by the Word of Blake. By 3079, its facilities would survive the occupation; however, with the formation of the Republic of the Sphere, the Draconis Combine government would order KCMC to dismantle its Altair factory and relocate it to Kajikazawa. The relocation radically changed the quiet coastline community into a mini-metropolis with new communities supporting its work. A benefit to its relocation, additional supporting industries were relocated to the world as well, lessening the supply difficulties it had on Altair.[1]
